From The President – 2018 Winter Season

Watsonia Baseball Club has been a strong member of the Melbourne Winter Baseball League since 1974. A family oriented club based at Loyola Reserve in Bundoora, the club fields six senior teams and junior teams across the Under 13, 15 and 17 age levels. The club also has an U/11 rookie ball program, and tee ball program where players over the age of six can learn the basics of the game in a fun and safe environment on a Saturday morning.
With a dedicated committee and a talented group of club coaches led by former Australian and Olympic baseball representative Adam Burton, Watsonia Baseball Club is always keen to invite interested new members to come and try baseball during the winter season.
Watsonia has both male and female members who are either currently or previously played and coached for Australia at international level. An Olympic sport, Watsonia has four current Australian Baseball League players, and five state women’s players at our club. We also have a lot of summer softballers and cricketers with experience from local club to premier cricket. Many of our cricketing members have also found benefits from “keeping their eye in” over the winter months as well as a significant improvement in their fielding and throwing techniques.
We are holding a ‘Come and Try Day’ for juniors on March 10th 2018 at Loyola Reserve Bundoora from 10am to 12pm. A second morning will be held on Saturday March 24th 10am – 11.30am. Come and meet the junior coaches and join us for a throw, a hit on the main diamond and to register your interest. We’ll have a free BBQ and water/softies for the little ones too.
Senior pre-season starts at Loyola Reserve on March 17th , with junior pre season starting the week commencing March 24th. Junior games are played locally on Saturday mornings, with senior games taking place on Saturday afternoons. The season starts April 14th and continues through to August plus finals. Tee ball will be a ten-week program commencing May 19th.
Feel free to contact Club President Murray Noble via email or phone for any enquiries, or shoot through an email to register your interest in receiving updates close to the start of the season.
Kind regards,
Murray Noble
